The Bad News and the Better News

Bad news: Islamic militants today beheaded their South Korean hostage, Kim Sun-Il, when Seoul refused to meet their demand for full withdawal of troops from Iraq.

The U.S. responded with another airstrike on a supposed Zarqawi safe house in Fallujah, killing three and wounding nine. Elsewhere, two Americans were killed in an attack on a convoy north of Baghdad.

Better news: A spokesman for the Iranian armed forces said that the eight British sailors captured yesterday after entering Iran's territorial waters could soon be freed if interrogations showed that they had "no bad intentions." Earlier reports had stated that the sailors would be prosecuted.
