Oh, the Sharks Have / Pretty Teeth, Dear

We had hoped by now to post our annual list of the year's ten best movies, but we cannot finalize our rankings until we've seen both The Sea Inside and Beyond the Sea; fortunately, they're playing just down the street on a triple bill with The Life Aquatic. In the meantime, you will have to content yourself with The Center for Corporate Policy's Top Ten War Profiteers of 2004:
1.) AEGIS
2.) BearingPoint
3.) Bechtel
4.) BKSH & Associates
5.) CACI and Titan
6.) Custer Battles
7.) Halliburton
8.) Lockheed Martin
9.) Loral Satellite
10.) Qualcomm
-- and need we point out what an exceptionally tasty year it's been when the good folks at Halliburton can manage no better than a seventh-place finish? The above link comes to you courtesy of our distinguished colleague Michael Miller at Public Domain Progress, who has also posted a few of Cynthia McKinney's more pungent remarks on Poppy Bush and the Carlyle group from the March 2002 Pacifica interview that generated so much trumped-up controversy.

Equally deserving of your attention is Joe Wezorek's list of The Top Ten Unanswered Questions of 2004 at American Leftist.

UPDATE (1/3): How in the world did we manage to overlook Media Matters for America's Ten Most Outrageous Statements of 2004 (including choice quotes from Limbaugh, Coulter, O'Reilly, Buchanan, Falwell, and Savage-Weiner)?

UPDATE II (1/3): Stop us before we list more! Via our venerated colleague Kate Storm of the All Spin Zone, AlterNet's 25 Dumbest Quotes of 2004 (which turns out to have been an even dumber year than we remembered).
