Completely Unrelated 

Two justly-acclaimed pieces you should make time to read, back-to-back if at all possible, although we hasten to point out that neither has anything to do with the other. Zip, zilch, bupkes, nada:

1.) Maryscott O'Connor's "Slouching Toward Kristallnacht," which quotes extensively from Milton Mayer's They Thought They Were Free: The Germans 1933-1945.

2.) Peter Daou's "The Dynamic of a Bush Scandal: How the Spying Story Will Unfold (and Fade)."

Also have a look at the Diebold story immediately below, which bears no more relevance to the items above than the old saw about boiling the frog.
