License to Fuck Up Egregiously

The Boy's-Adventure genre does not always benefit from the introduction of topicality:
THE plot of latest James Bond movie Casino Royale mirrors the real-life Tube station shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes.

Bond kills an unarmed bomb suspect, only to find it was the wrong man, a leaked script reveals . . . .

Bond - Daniel Craig, 37 - tries to clear his name after CCTV of the death is broadcast worldwide.

A studio source said: "Things really go bad for Bond in this one."
No doubt, but we hope you'll pardon us if we reserve our sympathies for the Menezes character.

In another nod to contemporary headlines, the character of Le Chiffre, who ties the naked Bond to a seatless chair frame and flogs his dangling nuts with a carpet beater, has been renamed "Dr. Yoo."

UPDATE: Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli insist that the Daily Mirror story above is a big ole crock of shit, and that no incident resembling the death of Menezes will appear in the movie.
